Wine & Song - Paul Givant w Zachery Ross; Desert Hollow

Odom & Kate Stamps patio, 318 Fairview Ave, South Pasadena, CA

Paul Givant was born and bred in Los Angeles, and shaped by the valleys and hills of SoCal and its edge-of-the-earth vibe as a mecca for lost souls, lonely hearts, mystics and rock-and-roll rebels. Since 2006 he has helmed Rose's Pawn Shop — a soulful, energetic tangle of folk, Americana, and rock with complex vocal harmonies and heartache-forged lyrics. His latest album, Marigold, is a deeply personal story of growth inspired by 70s folk-rock. He’ll be joined by long-time collaborator, Zachary Ross.

Desert Hollow is the dynamic traveling duo of Xander Hitzig and Nicole Olney. Multi-instrumentalist Xander hails from the rolling hills of West Virginia, while Nicole’s roots lie in the vast deserts of California. She plays guitar and 5-sting banjo and her ethereal voice and lyricism weave seamlessly into the rich, diverse soundscapes of their songs. Currently calling Maui home, they create genre-bending roots music that skips pleasantries and goes straight for the heart.

Glen Duncan home, 2031 Berkshire Ave, South Pasadena, CA

In Glen Duncan's backyard, 2031 Berkshire Ave in South Pas. 6:00 doors; 7:00 music. Beverages and light snacks available.

Smith & Keathley is the duo project of Smith Allen and Andy Keathley — two young Los Angeles-based bluegrass musicians making a big noise in the city of Angels and beyond. Keathley is an award-winning flatpicker who has been at the forefront of the Southern California bluegrass scene for over a decade. Smith Allen is an Ohio native with a wonderful debut album released in 2019. Their vocal blend is full of bright energy that feels like sibling harmony.

Sycamore & Ash is a wonderful cello and guitar duo based right here in South Pasadena. Cellist David Landau (of Brothers Landau and Smithfield Bargain) and guitarist Molly Oran have come together to create this enchanting indie folk ensemble. They create stirring songs of love and loss expressing the wonders and tragedies of life through their cello, guitar, and voices. The pair have one single out together called “Let It Out, Let It In”, with their next single “When You’re Gone” coming later this year.

At Mamma's Brick Oven, 1007 Fair Oaks Ave in South Pas. 6:00 doors; 7:00 music. Tickets $23 advance, $26 at the door ($25 cash).

Brian Whelan made a name for himself playing with country, rock, and Americana stars, such as Mike Stinson, Jim Lauderdale, and Chris Shiflett. He put his unmistakable mark on the national scene as the prolific sideman behind Dwight Yoakam, playing guitar, keys, pedal steel, and anything else that was required or requested. His songwriting is imbued with his driving guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and love-fueled lyrics. He does a lot of things really well, but two things he won’t do — boring and bullshit.

Jennings & Keller is the Florida-based duo of Laurie Jennings and Dana Keller. Jennings is a former Shakespearean actress with an obvious command of the stage as well as the songs she sings. Keller is a veteran pedal steel, dobro, and guitar player who spent years working with such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Dave Mason, to name a few. The duo’s last Wine & Song appearance was in 2017 and we’re very excited to welcome them back!

Rick Hayes Memorial Hootenanny

Rick Hayes Memorial Hootenanny

Sunday, April 19 @ 3:00PM — 5:00PMSun, Apr 19 @ 3:00PM — 5:00PM

Clover Cottage (Brad's backyard), 735 Brent Ave, South Pasadena, CA

We lost a good friend and neighbor recently. Rick Hayes was a pedal steel enthusiast and a big music supporter in general. He loved the Eclectic Music Festival and was a frequent attendee at Wine & Song. He is so missed in the Brent Avenue neighborhood where he would frequently host holiday gatherings, serving some of his culinary favorites. He loved our backyard and always looked after it when we were away. He made fig jam and tangerine marmalade from the fruit on our trees. We'll have a song swap in his honor. He would have liked nothing more. Bring your instrument and something to sip on. We'll raise a glass to Rick Hayes and remember him always. If you knew Rick you are welcome to join us for a celebration of life at 1:30. Otherwise, you can just come for the music at 3:00. No ticket needed.

Dinosaur Farm "Speakeasy", 1510 Mission Street, South Pasadena, CA

At the Dinosaur Farm "Speakeasy" 1510 Mission Street in South Pas. Enter from the back alley. BYOB. 6:00 doors; 7:00 music. Tickets $23 advance, $26 at the door ($25 cash).

Quenby is country’s newest outlaw. Her self-titled debut album has made a fierce mark on the alt-country/Americana landscape. The Montana-based songwriter and activist forges her own path, and encourages others to steer clear of society’s rigid expectations in favor of something way more radical: being yourself. Her music is a patchwork of cosmic country tunes and warm Americana that tells stories of hard-won wisdom and emotional rebirths.

Emily Fennel’s earliest memories swirl through the dusty Canadian fairgrounds of Southern Ontario. She got her start at county fair singing competitions as a young girl. Now, simply known as Miss Emily, she has emerged from the soul-drenched gumbo of blues, old school R&B and jazz, and has a Juno nomination for Blues Album of the Year. She is also a three-time winner of the Female Vocalist of the Year at the Canadian Blues Awards (Maple Blues Awards) and tours internationally.

Singer-songwriter Sophie Reynolds grew up right here in South Pasadena. She began playing the piano at age five, and at 14 taught herself to play guitar. In 2018, she began writing and performing her original songs — drawing inspiration from artists such as Wild Rivers, Noah Kahan, and Maggie Rogers. Her music blends pop and melancholy folk to tell stories that are both personal and universal. Her latest EP, Just in Time, was released in 2025.

Late for the Train was born from an eclectic group of musicians who all share a love of American roots music. Part songwriter’s storybook and part jamgrass playground, the band’s powerful live show uplifts the spirit and rouses the soul. The project has found a dedicated fan base touring up and down the West Coast, and recently in Europe. In addition to performing, the members are passionate educators & community collaborators. Ethan Samuel Brown is a singer-songwriter from the coal-dusted hills of Kentucky. He spent a decade in Nashville wearing various hats in the music biz. His sound lands somewhere between the introspective folk-rock of Christian Lee Hutson and the piano-driven pop sensibilities of Ben Folds. His delicate guitar work and sharp lyrical wit have drawn comparisons to James Taylor and Leonard Cohen, with a voice that's a blend of Appalachian grit and Nashville polish.

Known for her literary songwriting style and deep honey voice, Berkeley author turned songwriter Zoe FitzGerald Carter released her debut album, Waiting for the Earthquake, in 2018 and Waterlines, in 2021. Waterlines featured some of the Bay Area’s finest musicians. Jeweled Universe, 1017 Mission St Unit B, South Pasadena, CA

Texas shredder Marina Rocks was born in Austin, Texas during a summertime heat wave. And she has never cooled off. Her mom bought her a guitar that she played till her little kid fingers bled. Then came a Marshall stack. Her semi-autobiographical composition "Shero" reflects her deep feelings of love and gratitude for the support she received from her mother. Marina is quite a guitar slinger but also an award-winning songwriter. Her songs paint stories about life and love and are full of grit and edge.

Dan Kalisher is an L.A.-based guitarist, pedal steel player, producer, songwriter, and mixer. He built his dream studio in his family home in Altadena which, tragically, was destroyed in the fire. Known for his work with artists such as Noah Cyrus, Grace Potter, Louis Tomlinson, and Fitz and the Tantrums, Dan is an award-winning songwriter and producer, currently working with Brad on a new album.

at Mamma's Brick Oven Pizza, 1007 Fair Oaks Ave in South Pasadena. 6:00 doors; 7:00 music.

Eva Rose King is a Colorado folk artist with songs that dig deep into memory and vulnerability. Her 2025 album After Tale evokes the styles of Gillian Welch, Leonard Cohen, and Norah Jones, and examines feelings of loneliness. Eva was recently on tour supporting cellist and singer-songwriter Ben Sollee. She has also warmed the stage for Old Crow Medicine Show, and was a finalist in the 2024 Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s Troubadour Competition.

Jonie brings the heart of Oklahoma folk to her new roots in LA, with a distinct emphasis on songwriting that feels at once lighthearted and fiercely vulnerable. Her lyrics draw from the well of open-hearted honesty, humor, and community that defined her upbringing, anchored in an intimate arrangement of fingerstyle guitar and close harmonies with longtime collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Adam Nash.
