A native of Los Angeles, Eleni Mandell was raised in the San Fernando Valley. In her teens she was heavily influenced by L.A. punkers X and beatnik revivalist Tom Waits. She began writing and performing while a student at Berkeley. Soon after, she fell under the mentorship of Chuck E. Weiss, an associate of Waits and the subject of Rickie Lee Jones' "Chuck E's in Love." She has had a fascinating career and even taught songwriting at a women’s prison as part of Jail Guitar Doors — the organization founded by Wayne Kramer, of MC5, in partnership with English musician Billy Bragg.

The life experience and talent of Wild Mountain Mystics have been faithfully captured on their newly released debut album, Fire & Honey. The album is a warm blend of folk, rock, country, and blues, filled with fine songcraft and front-porch intimacy that engages as it inspires. It echoes the best of Appalachian folk informed by Woodstock-inspired classic rock. The duo’s love of music is alive in every song and shines with joy enough to bring a smile to your face and a dance step to your feet.
