Billy Eli is a Texas troubadour who worked on oil and gas pipelines before starting to write and play music in his early twenties. He writes tight, lean songs played with an inviting groove. He has a permanent trucker’s tan on his left arm from the endless miles spent on the road playing his brand of Americana music. And he has ridden a mule in the Arizona desert and been lost in the New York City subway.
Singer-songwriter David Serby is a linchpin of the Los Angeles alternative country scene. He recently released his sixth album — Low Hanging Stars. Like his previous work, the album reflects a strong sense of place, and takes in L.A. and environs from the underside of Hollywood to the outskirts of the Salton Sea. Serby continues to draw inspiration from the deep well of Southern California country music and sees making that music as its own reward. Producer and lead guitarist Ed Tree will join both artists at this performance.
